PURPOSE:To reduce the flicker of a color due to a cross color, and to reproduce a calm color with a high resolution by gaincontrolling an outline signal, obtained from a luminance signal, by means of the optional ratio signal of R, G, B input signals. CONSTITUTION:When each of the signals R, G, B, the ratio of which is constant, is supplied to terminals 1, 2, 3, a luminance signal matrix circuit 4 sends the luminance signal Y to satisfy the condition of a prescribed ratio to an outline signal generation circuit 5 and an adder 8. Besides, a matrix circuit 10 sends the optional ratio signal Lc from the input signal to a nonlinear circuit 6. The outline signal of + or - 1 time is generated by the circuit 5, and supplied to a gain control circuit 7, the gain of which has been set by the output of the circuit 6. The outline signal, the gain of which is controlled by the circuit 7, is added up together with the luminance signal by the adder 8, and sent as the outline corrected luminance signal. As the result, the flicker, especially of the cross color mixed with a red color, can be reduced.
