PURPOSE:To obtain an optical printer device which has a copying function and provides stable images by providing the 1st means which forms an image on a photosensitive member according to light from an exposed original and the 2nd means which forms an image on the photosensitive member by an optical shutter means. CONSTITUTION:When the optical printer device is used as a copying machine, a part (q) of a shutter array 516 is shield completely to enter an entire-surface transmission state. Then, the quantity of light from a light source 507 is controlled on the basis of the surface potential from a surface potential sensor 508 to obtain a proper image. When the device is used as a printer, no light is transmitted through a part (p) of the shutter array 516 and the part (q) forms picture elements. Then, an image signal is read out of a memory 523 after the surface potential of a photosensitive drum 505 is controlled, and applied to electrodes 603-N, thereby forming picture elements by repeating the transmission and shielding of th light repeatedly through a shutter. Thus, the optical printer device which functions as the copying machine and provides stable images is obtained. |
