PURPOSE:To eliminate the necessity of angle adjustment from a scanning mirror and, at the same time, to make angle adjustment to the scanning mirror with high accuracy, by providing a stopper member which stops the scanning mirror and a sensor which detects that the scanning mirror reaches a rotating angle position. CONSTITUTION:If a photosensor 42 working as a mirror rotating angle detecting sensor is in its turned-on state at the time of the reader mode, a worm wheel 46 is rotated in the direction shown by the arrow (b) by reversely rotating a mirror rotating motor 44 for a prescribed short time (T1) by means of a controller and a scanning mirror 6 is maintained in a state where the mirror 6 is pressure-contacted with a stopper with an appropriate pressure, so that the rotating force of the worm wheel 46 can be transmitted to a shaft 22. If the motor 44 is rotated for a period which is the sum of the time required for turning on the sensor 42 and the short time (T1) when the sensor 42 is in its turned off state, the scanning mirror 6 is maintained in a state where the mirror 6 is pressure-contacted with the stopper 43. Therefore, necessity of sensor adjustment and mirror adjustment at the time of assembling the scanning mirror is eliminated and the angle control of the scanning mirror is also made easier.
