PURPOSE:To keep a bearing clearance constant to prevent the occurrence of noise, the wear and seizure of a plain bearing metal by making a main bearing part and a main bearing cap include reinforced fiber having the coefficient of thermal expansion lower than that or a crankshaft, and making the inclusion rate of the fiber in the main bearing part larger than that in the main bearing cap. CONSTITUTION:A main bearing part 5 and a main bearing cap 6 include heat resisting reinforced fiber made of carbon fiber or ceramic fiber having the coefficient of thermal expansion lower than that of a crankshaft 4. In addition to that, the content of the reinforced fiber in said bearing part 5 is made larger than that in the cap 6 to nearly equalize said cap 6 to the crankshaft 4 in their coefficient of thermal expansion. Consequently, the bearing clearance of said crankshaft 4 can be kept almost constant over the range of its operating temperature to prevent the occurrence of noise, the wear and seizure of a plain bearing metal and improve its mechanical strength and heat resistance.
