PURPOSE:To enable a user to easily proofread and compile displayed sentences by discriminating the words of such types that are stored in a memory when a sentence mixing converted KANJI (Chinese characters) and KANA (Japanese syllabary) is displayed. CONSTITUTION:When a KANA character string is inputted via an input part 11, a converting part 13 converts this character string into a sentence mixing KANJI-KANA by means of a KANJI dictionary and a grammar dictionary. Thus a converted KANJI-KANA sentence is displayed at a display part 15. Then word type information, e.g., 'adjective' is inputted via a word type information input part 12 and stored in a word type information memory part 14. At the same time, the relevant adjective is enclosed by a frame at the part 15. As a result, a proofreader can easily grasp the grammar constitution of the relevant document since the word of such a type to be proofread is enclosed by a frame for display. Thus it is possible to easily perform proofreading/ compiling jobs including the partial or total deletion, shift, transcription, insertion, etc.
