PURPOSE:To improve thermal stability and synthetic yield of perpropionic acid, by adding phosphoric acid, 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid and sodium hexametaphosphate to a solution of perpropionic acid as stabilizers, thereby attaining excellent synergistic effect. CONSTITUTION:In the production of perpropionic acid from a reaction raw material containing a slight amount of metal, the perpropionic acid containing metal ion can be stabilized by adding phosphoric acid in combination with 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid and sodium hexametaphosphate to a perpropionic acid solution as stabilizers. The total amount of the phosphoric acid, 2,6- pyridinedicarboxylic acid and sodium hexametaphosphate is preferably 200-600ppm based on the perpropionic acid solution (for a solution having a metal concentration of about 0.5ppm in terms of iron ion). The weight of phosphoric acid, 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid and sodium hexametaphosphate are 1.0/1.0-0.01/1.0-0.01.
