PURPOSE:To prevent the development of a trouble in the side dam and to stably obtain a strip having good quality by controlling the rotational velocity of twin rolls, so as to satisfy the condition of the prescribed inequality in the twin roll type continuous casting. CONSTITUTION:One pair of side dams are stood up in the plane at the orthogonal direction to roll axes on the peripheral faces of inner part cooling type twin rolls rotating toward reverse direction for each other, so as to bring the bottom thereof into slidingly contact with the peripheral faces of rolls. The molten metal in a pouring basin formed by both side dams and the circular peripheral faces of twin rolls is continuously cast to the strip by pressing at the narrowest gap part between the rolls while solidifying it by cooling on the roll surfaces. In this case, the rotational velocity is controlled, so as to satisfy Ymm for the height of solidifying completion point W from the roll axes level L and Smm for the distance between the roll axes.
