PURPOSE:To perform restoration based on the image of each saving file in a file fault mode by providing a full saving file on a large capacity file device to store both full saving and increment saving images and carrying out the full and increment saving jobs to those saving files. CONSTITUTION:Various data files A-F which are produced and replaced by a processor are stored in a file device 1 of a data processing system. A file saving means 2 includes a full saving process part 2-1 and an increment saving process part 2-2. In addition, a full saving file 3-1 and an increment saving file 3-2 are provided to a large capacity file device 3. A control file 7 controls the file names, volume names, etc., of both files 3-1 and 3-2. At the same time, a file back-up means 5 is set in response to the device 3 and files 3-1 and 3-2 are delivered to a saving magnetic tape 6-1 of a magnetic tape 6. Then a file restoring means 4 works when a fault occurs.
