<p>PURPOSE:To increase the sensitivity of a voltage sensor without enlarging the dimension of a material, by providing a pair of the electrodes connected to two adjacent surfaces surrounding the transmitting optical axis of an electro- optical material. CONSTITUTION:Incident light 1 and transmitted light 9 propagate through a transmitting optical axis 10. The electrodes 5a, 5c and 5b, 5d provided to two adjacent surfaces of an electro-optical material 4 are electrically connected and constitute a pair of electrodes using the transmitting optical axis 10 as a symmetry axis. The electro-optical material 4 is LiNbO3 monocrystal and the optical axis 10 is selected in the Z-axis direction of the monocrystal and the electrodes 5 are provided so as to apply electric fields in an x-axis direction and a y-axis direction. As a result, sensitivity can be enhanced by 2<1/2> times using the LiNbO3 monocrystal having the same dimension as a conventional one.</p> |
