PURPOSE:To improve the recovery rate of the title dry cleaning solvent by selectively permeating the solvent through a fibrous sheet, or coarsening the fine water droplets with use of a fibrous sheet during the time from the gravity separation to the reuse of the solvent. CONSTITUTION:The dry cleaning solvent such as tetrachloroethylene is distilled and cooled, and then the dry cleaning solvent is recovered by gravity separation. The recovered solvent is selectively permeated through the fibrous sheet consisting essentially of fibers having 0.1-10mum diameter and having 30-90% porosity and water repellency to separate water and solvent, or the fine water droplets are coarsened with use of a fibrous sheet consisting essentially of fibers having 0.1-10mum diameter and having 30-90% porosity, 0.1-70mm thickness, and >=25dyne/cm critical surface tension to separate water from solvent. The obtained solvent is reused.
