PURPOSE:To dissolve the infiltration of a grinding liquid into a bearing, avoid the occurrence of the rust, abrasion, defective rotation, etc. of the bearing, and improve the quality of a work by providing a work holding member for holding a sticking dish on the bearing of the work holding section. CONSTITUTION:A work holding section 25 is swayably provided on the upper shaft 22 of a polishing machine, and a sticking dish 32 stuck with a lens to be machined 33 is held by the work holding member 35b of a work holding member 35 movably provided perpendicularly to the rotary shaft of the work sticking dish 32. As a result, a grinding liquid does not infiltrate into the bearing 31, the rust, abrasion, defective rotation, etc. of the bearing 31 does not occur, and the durability of the bearing 31 can be improved. The machining face of a lens to be machined 33 thus held is located on the abrasive face 34a of a polishing dish 34, and the work holding member 35 is separated from the sticking dish 32.
