PURPOSE:To measure the blood gas of a patient by simple operation, by a method wherein sampled blood is mixed with a decomposition reagent to liberate blood gas from hemoglobin in blood to perform gas-liquid separation, and oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood gas separated are analyzed by a physical analytic method. CONSTITUTION:A measuring apparatus is equipped with a blood introducing means 2, a decomposition reagent adding means 3, a container means 7 for contacting blood with the decomposition reagent to liberate and generate blood gas, a gas-liquid separation means 4 and a separated blood gas lead-out means 5, and the obtained blood gas is sent to a physical analytic means 6. A blood gas separation means is constituted so that a filter is incorporated in the container means 7 as a gas permeable porous body 4 and the decomposition reagent composed of an acidic saponin/potassium ferricyanide solution is preliminarily received in the container means 7 substituted with the carrier gas from a carrier gas supply means 8 and a predetermined amount of a blood sample is subsequently introduced into the container means 7 to be mixed with said reagent. Carbon dioxide and oxygen liberated from blood at this time are taken out through the filter 4.
