PURPOSE:To obtain a handy printer printing out ruled lines on optional recording paper by designating the thickness and interval of ruled lines and driving a thermal head according to the ruled line data. CONSTITUTION:A ruled line thickness setting key 6 and a ruled line interval setting key 7 are provided near a changeover switch 4 designating operation modes such as power on/off, read, print and ruled line print, and a thickness display section 8 and an interval display section 9 are provided. In printing out ruled lines, after the changeover switch 4 is thrown to the position L and a print section 3 is brought into contact with print paper A (plain paper) and a handy copy main body 1 is moved in the direction of arrow X while depressing execution keys 5a, 5b. Each dot in response to a data is selected and heated in the thermal head 21 and the ruled lines are printed repetitively one by one row synchronously with the moving detection signal of an encoder.
