PURPOSE:To lengthen the service life of a mold and to improve the productivity by forming the mold for heating mold type continuous casting by graphite and silicon carbide. CONSTITUTION:The mold is made of blending the silicon carbide powder in the graphite powder, and after adding tar as binding material, sufficiently kneading and forming this to cylindrical shape and firing under nitrogen atmosphere. Then, the content of silicon carbide is made to 5-95wt%. In this way, the service life is lengthened and the cast billet having high quality is stably cast for a long time.
