PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of the product width size by providing detecting means detecting the edge position of a plate steel material at two places respectively in the travel direction of the plate steel material and using the difference between detected results of both detecting means as the meandering quantity of the said plate steel material. CONSTITUTION:Edge sensors 21, 22 are fitted apart from a milling cutter 2 by distance 2L, L respectively. The movement of the plate steel material 1 of an edge mirror main body 3 in the travel path width direction (Y-axis direction) is performed by operating a cylinder 4 based on the information from a detector 11 and two edge sensors 21, 22 fed to a controller 7. The edge sensors 21, 22 detect the same edge section of the traveling plate steel material 1 at their installation positions. If a difference occurs between values of two edge sensors 21, 22, the difference is judged to be the meandering quantity in the distance L, the information on this difference is held in the distance L then fed to a servo valve 5 to operate a cylinder 4. As a result, cut quantities of the plate steel material 1 on both ends can be correctly controlled, and quality can be improved.
