NEW MATERIAL:3,4-Dihydroxyphenylparatolylsulfone. USE:A developer for thermal recording and pressure-sensitive recording. PREPARATION:Catechol expressed by formula II is oxidized with an oxidant and successively reacted with paratoluenesulfinic acid to provide a compound expressed by formula I. The oxidation reaction is carried out, using a water/ organic solvent mixed system (methanol, ethanol, THF, etc. as an organic solvent) as a solvent and potassium bichromate, lead oxide, potassium iodate, etc., as an oxidant. The resultant oxide is used in above-mentioned addition reaction without isolating. In said reaction, reaction temperature is preferably 0-30 deg.C, especially 0-10 deg.C. |
