PURPOSE:To attain effective utilization of a line by allowing a state supervisory section to supervise the occurrence of a fault at an electronic computer so as to eliminate the need for undesired connection of the line after the occurrence of the fault. CONSTITUTION:An electronic computer CPU 1 applies polling to a controller FAXC5 and in receiving the polling, the FAXC5 returns an affirmative reply RSP. The state supervisory section OB9 sends picture information to a facsimile equipment FAX 8 when a next selection comes within a prescribed time T1 after the RSP is returned. After the picture information is finished to send for the FAX 8, if the next selection does not come within the time T1, it is regarded as a fault from the CPU 1 till the communication controller CCP 2 and a command to cut off the line is given to the main control section CCU 11. The main control section CCU 11 sends a cut off instruction to the FAX 8 through a facsimile control section FXC 13 to cut off the line.
