PURPOSE:To effectively inhibit the generation of gaseous hydrogen in a battery of the titled Zn alloy to be obtained, by providing a composition containing Pb, Ga, Al, and In and by carrying out amalgamation. CONSTITUTION:The titled Zn alloy is prepared by forming a Zn alloy containing Pb, Ga, Al, and In and then by amalgamating this alloy or by amalgamating a Zn alloy containing a part of the components among Pb, Ga, Al, and In by means of mercury containing residual components. Moreover, it is desirable that the amounts of Pb, Ga, Al and In are regulated, by weight, to 0.01-0.5%, 0.003-0.2%, 0.003-0.2%, and 0.003-0.2%, respectively. By this composition, the alloy reduced in the amount of generated gaseous hydrogen can be obtained. |
