PURPOSE:To complete plural repeating operations in a short time by permitting picture element data to circulate in a circulation and shift storage mechanism while the relation position of the picture data is maintained and executing prescribed operations at every time the data comes in a stage connected to an arithmetic unit on he way of the mechanism. CONSTITUTION:Four arithmetic units process the data of NXN picture elements in parallel. Input data is supplied to a transfer unit 3 one by one picture element. In an arithmetic phase, data from the output stage S0 of a shift register 41 is transmitted to the input stage SN-1 of the shift register 41-1 through a line l, while data from the output stage S0 of the shift register 40 is transmitted to the input stage SN-1 of the shift register 4N-1. Thus all the shift register 40-4N-1 are serially connected to form a single circulating shift register. The arithmetic unit 5 is connected in a position dividing quarterly the train of the shift register 4, and it processes a series of picture element data in a preset relative position.
