PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution of a controller by incorporating a character code generator in order to omit generation of character codes, detection of the position of an input button, etc., which are carried out at the side of a controller for an entire keyboard. CONSTITUTION:A clock signal is sent to a key button from a keyboard controller 9 through an electric wiring 6 as long as the key button is not depressed. This state lasts for a period TA. When the key button is depressed, an electric contact 2 is closed. Thus a strobe signal is sent to the controller 9 from the key button via an electric wire 4. This state lasts for a period TB. The controller 9 knows by the strobe signal that the key button is depressed and receives a character code specific to the key button and received serially through an electric wiring 5 from the key button. This state lasts for a period TC.
