PURPOSE:To suppress medium noise by forming a magnetic layer of the crystalline parts and amorphous arts of hexagonal ferrite in such a manner that the crystalline parts occupy 20-80% and that the crystal grains of the crystalline parts are oriented to the C-axis with respect to the substrate plane. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic layer 13 is formed in such a manner that the crystal particles 21 of the hexagonal ferrite having a square shape exist to overlap on each other by unifying the particle planes in an upward direction. The crystal particles 21 of such hexagonal ferrite, i.e., the crystalline parts occupy 20-80%, more preferably 40-60% volumetric parts in the magnetic layer 13. The holes among the crystal particles are eliminated and the surface smoothness is improved by adopting such layer structure. The hexagonal ferrite particles 21 in the magnetic layer 13 are dispersed that the C-axes are oriented in the direction perpendicular to the substrate plane. The perpendicular magnetic anisotropy is thereby obtd. in the magnetic layer 13.
