<p>PURPOSE:To produce an impregnated type cathode with conductive support at a low cost, by utilizing a sintering contraction positively to form a molten connection at the periphery of a conductive support. CONSTITUTION:A high melting point metallic powder 21 is filled in a pattern 20, a W support rod 22 is held by a pattern 23, and the top 22a of the support rod 22 is compressed and formed in the powder 21. Then, by sintering the composition in a vacuum at 2000 to 2600 deg.C, a porous sinter 21' is obtained by selecting the size of the particles of the material. An oxide mixture powder mainly of BaO is molten and impregnated to the porous sinter 21' in a vacuum. By a sintering contraction, the top 22a of the conductive support rod 22 is fixed solidly to the sinter 21' in the inserted condition with no gap.</p> |
