摘要 PURPOSE:To permit increase in reproduction output by specifying the saturation magnetization of a magnetic recording layer. CONSTITUTION:The saturation magnetization Ms of the magnetic recording layer of a magnetic recording medium formed by providing such a magnetic recording layer which has uniaxial anisotropy and the symmetrical axis of which is perpendicular to a substrate on the substrate is so specified as to be within a 250<=Ms<=400(emu/cc) range. The reproduction output is max. in the region 1 of 250 approx.<400emu/cc if Ms (emu/cc) is taken at the axis of abscissa and the reproduction output E at the axis of ordinate. The reason for a decrease in the reproduction output at Ms approx.>emu/cc lies in that the output decrease by the apparent deterioration of the perpendicularly anisotropic energy exceeds the effect of the increase in the magnetic flux by an increase in Ms. More specifically, the reproduction output is increased by controlling the saturation magnetization within the 250<=Ms<=400emu/cc range.
