PURPOSE:To excellently allow ferrule tip surfaces into contact with each other and to improve optical coupling performance by reducing the ferrule tip surfaces in area. CONSTITUTION:The tip part of a ferrule 1 is reduced in diameter concentrically toward the tip to reduce the area of the tip surface 3 of the ferrule 1, and an optical fiber insertion hole 4 and optical fiber core insertion holes 5 and 6 are bored in the axis of the ferrule 1 while linked with one another and an optical fiber D exposed by removing the coating of an optical fiber cord A and an optical fiber core C are fixed in the insertion holes 5 and 6 by adhesion, and the tip of the optical fiber D is finished into a specular surface perpendicularly to the axial direction and in level with the tip surface 3 of the ferrule 1. The ferrule 1 wherein the optical fiber D and optical fiber core C are fixed by adhesion is run into the ferrule insertion hole 7 of a housing 2, the annular projection 8 of the ferrule 1 is locked in the lock hole 9 of the housing 2, and a spring 10 abuts on the annular projection 8 to energize the ferrule 1 axially.
