<p>PURPOSE:To heat a battery efficiently by forming partition walls of battery jars and separators between electrodes with a heating unit having positive temperature characteristic layered with electric insulating material. CONSTITUTION:A partition wall 2 in each battery jar 1 is formed with a substrate 13 which comprises a heating unit having positive temperature characteristic equipped with thin film type electrode 8 on both sides connecting with lead wires 9 and covered with an electrical insulating layer 10. At the onset of heating, a battery is heated efficiently because of a small resistance of the substrate 13, and then at above a definite temperature the resistance increases to suppress the heating. By the arrangement, decreased capacity of the battery at cold time can be fast recovered. By forming a separator 4 between electrodes with the same kind of heating unit, the similar effect can be obtained.</p> |
