PURPOSE:To obtain a high strength Al alloy for the connectors of an Al heat exchanger having superior hot workability and burning resistance by providing a compsn. consisting of specified amts. of Zn, Mg, Zr, Mn and Si and the balance Al with inevitable impurities. CONSTITUTION:An Al alloy having a compsn. consisting of, by weight, 3-4.5% Zn, 0.5-1.5% Mg, 0.05-0.2% Zr, 0.2-0.7% Mn, 0.2-0.7% Si and the balance Al with inevitable impurities is manufactured by refining and cast into a billet. This billet is homogenized and hot extruded to form stock for connectors. Thus, an Al alloy for the connectors of an Al heat exchanger having superior hot workability, burning resistance and high strength required by the connectors can be obtd.
