PURPOSE:To hold the optical path of a nonmagnification image forming optical system constant throughout all processes and to make a stable read by providing an abutting means which abuts on an original platen nearby an original read scan position and holds the optical path among an original, a reflecting mirror, and a converging rod lens array constant. CONSTITUTION:The converging rod lens array 10, reflecting mirror 11, and a contact type photoelectric transducer 12 are united, a fulcrum of rotation is provided on the light guide-out side of the converging rod lens array 10, and the abutting member which abuts on the original platen is provided on the light guide-in side, thereby constituting an unmagnified image forming optical system which is driven to rotate so that the abutting member abuts on the original platen. Namely, a rotary roller as the abutting means is freely rotatable on a shaft 23 and fitted to both end parts of an uniting substrate 13 in a read width direction by using fitting plates 24. Consequently, the unmagnified image forming optical system abuts on the original platen and follows up it while rotating to hole the optical path between the original and contact type photoelectric transducer 12 constant, thereby making a uniform read throughout all processes without out of focusing.
