PURPOSE:To prevent any fluctuation of a pitch of transporting sheets, by making such constitution in which the friction coefficient of a pinch roller on the rear stage for sheets lower than the friction coefficient of a sheet transporting roller for sheets and also making sheets maintain a sliding contact between sheets and the pinch roller of the rear stage. CONSTITUTION:During transportation of a sheet 1, pinch rollers 7, 7 on the rear stage are pressed onto a sheet 1 in the state of sliding contact, and now because of the larger thickness on the sheet 1 even if pressing out action occurs, by pressing force of the pinch roller 7, 7 when its end edge of the sheet 1 passes through pinch rollers of the front stage and derived actions of sheet transporting roller 4 can be suppressed. And whenever the pinch rollers 7, 7 on the rear stage have direct contact with the sheet transporting roller 4, the pinch rollers 7, 7 of the rear stage are rotated by the friction with the sheet transporting roller 4, then it does not occur that surplus output of a sheet transporting motor is needed due to a growth in load.
