PURPOSE:To send original information of the original size by storing read information temporarily in a memory, converting the main scanning direction and the subscanning direction of a data read out of the memory, compressing the converted data and modulating and sending the compressed data. CONSTITUTION:A control section 17 gives a read command A to a read section 11, which is started after receiving a command and stores a read raw data B once in a memory 12 and gives an end notice C to the control section 17 after the storage. In receiving the notice C, the control section 17 gives a split command to a picture edition section 13, which sends a data H being the result of the conversion processing between the main scanning and the subscanning to a raw data E received from the memory 12 to a compression section 15. The compressed data is sent to a line via a MODEM 16 two times. Thus, an original of the size A3 is received as the original size, but in two sheets of A4 size.
