PURPOSE:To obtain a flame-retardant resin compsn. having excellent physical properties, by adding a halogenated polyphosphate and an acid phosphate to a specified monomer mixture and polymerizing the mixture. CONSTITUTION:A halogenated polyphosphonate and an acid phosphate are added to a monomer mixture of the 40-94wt% methyl methacrylate or its partial polymer, 5-25wt% N-substd. maleimide and 1-15wt% methacrylic acid or a partial polymer thereof and the mixture is polymerized in the presence of a polymn. initiator. Examples of the N-substd. maleimide are N- arylmaleimides, 1-4C N-alkylmaleimides, N-cyclohexylmaleimides, N- benzylmaleimide, etc. The compsn. is useful in the fields of building materials, materials for electrical apparatuses, sign-boards, grazing materials, lighting materials, etc.
