MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To improve the sliding resistance characteristic of a magnetic recording medium such as magnetic disk by forming a high-density carbon film on a magnetic film. CONSTITUTION:A protective film consisting of the carbon film is formed on the magnetic disk by using a DC bipolar sputtering device. The carbon film which has >=1.95g/cm<2> density and with which two diffraction halo rings are observed in electron ray diffraction and the ratio of the inter-surface spacing determined from the respective halo rings, i.e., the size of the inter-surface spacing of the inside ring to the inter-surface spacing of the outside ring is 1.75-1.83 is used as the protective film in this case. The carbon film having the excellent sliding resistance characteristic is thereby obtd.
