PURPOSE:To facilitate continuation and to simplify an impregnation apparatus, by a method wherein a base material is impregnated with a solvent subjected to defoaming treatment under reduced pressure and subsequently impregnated with resin varnish subjected to defoaming treatment under reduced pressure for required times to be moved through a squeeze roll. CONSTITUTION:A solvent 1 is subjected to defoaming treatment in a solvent evacuation vessel 2 to be sent to an solvent impregnation tank 3 and a base material 4 is impregnated with said solvent and subsequently impregnated with the resin varnish 6 subjected to deforming treatment in a resin varnish evacuation vessel 5 required times in a kiss roll impregnation tank 7 and a resin varnish impregnation tank 8 and, after impregnation amount is controlled by a squeeze roll 9, the impregnated one is dried to obtain a prepreg. As the base material a fabric, a nonwoven faric, a mat, paper or a combination thereof having a thickness of 0.1-0.3 mm composed of an inorg. fiber, an org. synthetic fiber or a natural fiber is pref. and, as the solvent, methyl cellosolve or dimethylformamide having vapor pressure of 150 mmHg or less at 20-25 deg.C is used and the defoaming treatment of the solvent and the resin varnish is pref. performed under such a condition that a reduced pressure level is 150 Torr or more and an impregnation time is 10 sec or more and, as the resin for the resin varnish, a phenol resin, a cresol resin, an epoxy resin, and unsaturated polyester resin or the like are used. |
