PURPOSE:To make a cartridge into complete hermetic seal structure to improve dust preventing effect and to prevent the damage of a head or disk by storing a magnetic disk, a magnetic head and a part of the positioning mechanism of the magnetic head in the cartridge, and making freely attachable and detachable the magnetic disk from a device main body. CONSTITUTION:A cartridge 1, a magnetic disk 2, a head and a carriage 3 including a head arm are provided, the coil 4 of an actuator is incorporated, the carriage 3 is supported by a guide rail 5 and can slide. A yoke 6 and a permanent magnet 7 forming the actuator are disposed in a disk drive side externally of the cartridge. An inserting opening 9 is provided as a recessed part for inserting the yoke 6 and the permanent magnet 7 in the cartridge so as to constitute the actuator at the time of mounting the cartridge to the drive. This inserting opening is separated by the wall of the casing of the cartridge from the inner part of the cartridge to maintain the hermetic seal structure of the cartridge.
