PURPOSE:To attain accurate color adjustment for the titled television receiver by using a reference color signal generator so as to light a required color onto a television screen and using a color checker so as to split the light into red/ green/blue colors and measuring the component of each color by a sensor. CONSTITUTION:In displaying a white color on a screen of a television receiver 2 by a reference color signal generator 1 as, e.g., a reference color, the white ray is made incident on a photodetection section 5 of the color checker 4 and split into three colors, red, green and blue by dichroic mirrors 9, 10. The split lights are converted into an electric quantity proportional to the luminous quantity of red, green, blue by image pickup tubes 13, 14, 15, the result is amplified by amplifiers 16, 17, 18 and they are displayed on display devices 6, 7, 8. Thus, the color adjustment of the television screen is facilitated definitely without the assistance of visual sense of a human being having variance.
