DRIVING METHOD FOR SOLID-STATE IMAGE PICKUP DEVICE

PURPOSE:To control the storage time of photoconductive film optionally by superimposing a readout clock pulse of a CCD and a pulse of a prescribed potential and controlling the pulse width of a prescribed potential optionally. CONSTITUTION:A sufficient film bias is applied to a photoconductive film 14 only during a time tw when a bias pulse VT is at L period just before a readout pulse thetaV(H) and an optical signal is stored. Then a potential under a thetaV gate 13 is reciprocated between periods L and M at a time t1, the film 14 is subject to deficient bias and no optical signal is stored. The pulse VT reaches an L level at a time t2, a sufficient bias is applied to the film 14 and the signal electric charge is stored in a diode 11. The pulse thetaV(H) rises at a time t3 and the storage electric charge of the diode 11 is read in a transfer stage 12 of the CCD. The pulse VT goes again to H at a time t4 and the film 14 is deficient again in bias. The optical signal storage period tw is defined as the time difference between the L level of the pulse VT and the leading of the thetaV(H).
