The invention relates to an element to be implanted at least temporarily in a vein, and in particular an element for filtering the blood flowing in a vein. It is characterised in that the opposite ends 6, 7 of at least some of the branches 2 of the element 1 are interposed between two members 8, 9 connected together by a means 10 allowing their relative positions, and in particular separation, to be altered, so that, by acting on these means 10: - on the one hand, bringing the said members substantially along the longitudinal axis 31 of the element 1 towards a position termed the active position of the element ensures that the branches 2 will be at least slightly curved, and - on the other hand, separation of the said members 8, 9 substantially along the same longitudinal axis towards a position termed the rest position ensures that the branches 2 will straighten at least partially, and in particular proportionately to the movement of the members 8, 9. <IMAGE>
