PURPOSE:To enable a printed part to be read by the use of IR laser, by providing a thermal recording layer comprising a colorless or light-colored dye precursor consisting of a fluorene derivative having a substituted amino group and a color developer of a specified general formula on a base. CONSTITUTION:A colorless or light-colored dye precursor consisting of a fluorene derivative having a substituted amino group and color developers of formulas I and II are aded to an aqueous solution of a water soluble high molecular weight material, followed by grinding and dispersing by a ball mill or the like to prepare a coating liquid. The coating liquid is applied to a base such as a woodfree paper, followed by drying to provide a thermal recording layer, thereby producing a thermal recording material. The color developers are preferably used in an amount of 50-1000 wt.% based on the dye precursor. The ratio of the amount of the color developer of formula I being used to the amount of the color developer of formula II being used is preferably 1/9-9/1. |
