NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R<1> is alkenyl or alkyl or two R<1> groups link to represent trimethylene; R<2> is nitro, trifluoromethyl or halogen; R<3> is lower alkyl; R<4> is dimethoxymethyl, formyl, hydroxymethyl or nitrile). EXAMPLE:Methyl 2-dimethoxymethyl-6-methyl-4-( 2-nitrophenyl )-5-(2-oxo-1,3,2- dioxaphosphorinan-2-yl)-1,4-dihydropyridine-3-carboxylate. USE:A remedy for disease in cardiovascular systems, e.g. hypertension, angina pectoris, cerebral angiopathy, etc., having powerful and sustained effects based on calcium antagonistic action. PREPARATION:For example, according to the reaction formulas, a benzylidene compound expressed by formula III is reacted with an aminocrotonate compound expressed by formula II in a molar amount of normally 1-1.5 times based on 1mol of the former, if necessary, in an inert solvent at room temperature boiling point of the solvent.
