NEW MATERIAL:The cyclic azoamidine compound of formula I [R is -CH2CH2 OH when X is -CH2CH2- or R is H when X is -CH2CH(OH)CH2-] and its salt. EXAMPLE:The compound of formula II. USE:A functional polymerization initiator for the production of a polymeric compound. PREPARATION:The cyclic azoamidine compound of formula I can be produced in free form e.g. by using azonitrile as a starting substance, reacting with hydrogen chloride gas and an alcohol to obtain azoiminoether hydrochloride, reacting with ammonia gas and reacting the resultant free azoiminoether with corresponding diamine.
