PURPOSE:To obtain space heating effect near one's feet with satisfactory space heating feeling in a short time after the start of space heating operation by a method wherein an electric current flowing to an auxiliary space heating device installed near one's feet is increased and the revolution of the compressor of an air conditioner is kept at a low speed when the operation of space heating is started. CONSTITUTION:It is determined that how many minutes are required to flow specified electric current into an electric carpet to obtain a specified surface temp. at room temp. when the operation of space heating is started and while said specified electric current flowes, the revolution of the compressor of an air conditioner 1 is controlled in such a manner that the synthesized electric current c' of the current b' flowing in the electric carpet 2 and the current a' flowing in the conditioner 1 is lower than a restricted electric current d'. Then, when the surface temp. of the carpet 2 is raised up to reach the specified temp., the current value flowing in the carpet is reduced and the current to the conditioner 1 is increased to raise up the revolving speed. Thereby, as room temp. near one's feet is able to be kept at the specified temp. by the carpet 2, comfortable air conditioning for space heating is able to be obtained.
