PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composition consisting of a polypeptide, a specific absorption promoter and a water-absorbing solid base. CONSTITUTION:A powdery composition for nasotracheal administration containing a physiologically active polypeptide (e.g. peptide hormone such as calcitonin, physiologically active protein, enzyme protein, vaccine, etc.), an ascorbic acid (e.g. ascorbic acid, erysorbic acid, etc.) and a basic amino acid (e.g. arginine, histidine, lysine, etc.) and/or a salt thereof as an absorption promoter and a water-absorbing solid base (e.g. water-absorbing and slightly water- soluble cellulose, starch, crosslinked vinyl polymer or gum) suitable for application to nasal mucosa. The preferable concentrations of the ascorbic acid and the amino acid are 0.1-20wt% and 0.1-20wt% based on sum of the composition, respectively. The composition can be directly made into powder in unit administration form.
