PURPOSE:To enhance a thermochromic property, by providing an interference layer on the surface of a sheet material of a shape memory alloy, and enabling the sheet material to extend or contract in the sheet plane with the transformation temperature of the alloy as a boundary. CONSTITUTION:Where the transformation temperature of a shape memory alloy used is 20 deg.C, a sheet material is a color change sheet material 1 having a width l when the ambient temperature is not higher than 20 deg.C, whereas when the temperature exceeds 20 deg.C, the sheet material extends to the width (l + Al) at the time of forming thereof due to the shape memory property of the alloy. When the temperature is lowered to or below 20 deg.C, the sheet material is again changed to have the width l. When the width of the sheet material 1 is changed to l + DELTAl due to a temperature change, an interference layer 3 in close contact with the sheet material is also extended or contracted, resulting in a change in the layer thickness. As a result, the interference wavelength due to the interference action of the layer 3 on incident light 4 is changed, and the tone of the sheet material 1 produced by reflected light 5 is changed. Thus, the sheet material exhibits thermochromism. |
