PURPOSE:To enhance heat response characteristics and thermal color forming properties, by providing a recording layer comprising a diazo compound, a coupling component and a compound of a specified general formula on a base to produce a thermal recording material. CONSTITUTION:A diazo compound, a coupling component and a compound of formula I (wherein X is oxygen, a substd. or unsubstd. amine residue or sulfur, and R is an alkyl or aryl having at least one of an ester group, carbonyl, aminde group, halogen, nitrile group) are dispersed in a 2-30 wt.% aqueous solution of a water soluble high molecular weight material in an amount of 5-40 wt% by a sand mill or the like to prepare a coating liquid. The coating liquid is applied to a base such as a woodfree paper, followed by drying to provide a recording layer, thereby producing a thermal recording material. The thermal recording material can be used as a printer paper for facsimiles or the like required to have suitability for high-speed recording. |
