PURPOSE:To prevent slips and to provide a prescribed tension by putting and arranging a soft and a hard elastic lining materials such as synthetic resins, fibers, and rubber impregnated cloths having different hardnesses alternately in the roll length direction and in a prescribed width. CONSTITUTION:Elastic lining materials 2 having different hardnesses are alternately put on the peripheral surface of a roll body 1 in the roll length direction and in a prescribed width. Synthetic resins, fibers, and rubber impregnated cloths having elasticity and wear resistance are used as the lining materials 2. A desirable ratio of the width of a soft elastic lining material 2-1 to that of a hard elastic material 2-2 on the peripheral surface of the roll body 1 is 2-5:1. By the roll having that composition, a tension is stably provided.
