The present invention relates to a rotation damper, including a stator 1 and a rotor 2 defining between them a chamber 6 filled with a fluid, vanes 7, 14 being arranged on each of the said stator and rotor, the vanes arranged on the stator and rotor respectively dividing the said chamber into a plurality of volumes, and the free ends 16 of the vanes 7 arranged on the rotor and stator respectively defining throttling passages 19 in interaction with opposite cylindrical portions of the surface 18 lying between two vanes 14 of the stator and of the rotor respectively. According to the invention, the area of the cross-section of each throttling passage 19 can be varied as a function of the relative rotation between the said rotor 2 and stator 1. The invention applies particularly to vehicle suspensions. <IMAGE>
