PURPOSE:To enable recording of an image with predetermined density irrespective of variation of temperature, humidity, etc. or aging of electrostatic recording head, by constructing such that drive parameters of the electrostatic head are controlled according to discharge current flowing through a photosensitive member. CONSTITUTION:When a writing head 3 is driven, an electrostatic charge image corresponding to information being added is formed on a photosensitive belt 2 and current corresponding to an ion flow flows from a facing electrode 210 through a resistor R. A control section 40 controls a power source circuit 191 such that the detected voltage of a voltage detecting circuit 181 will be 1V(with 1muA current) so as to bring the electrode voltage of the writing head 5 to a proper level. Since driving voltage of the writing head 5 is set by measuring the charge density directly, an image having constant density can be formed irrespective of variation of temperature, humidity, degradation of head, etc. |
