Documents are supplied at (2) along a predetermined feed path to a collecting station (6) via an elongate transport means (4) and thence to a folding station (10), which receives, folds, and releases the documents. Holding gates (12, 13) receive the documents from said folding station and release said documents to inserting means (20) for inserting each of said documents into an envelope. The gates (12, 13) are positioned in series along the normal document transport path, and are operable to release documents to its next adjacent downstream gate and ultimately to said inserting means, so as to provide substantially uninterrupted feeding of documents to said inserting means at a rate approaching the output processing speed of said inserting means. <IMAGE> |
