摘要 <p>An apparatus for discharge machining wherein a pulse-like voltage is applied repetitively across the gap between an electrode and a workpiece to generate electric discharge, thereby machining the workpiece utilizing the energy of electric discharge. The apparatus is provided with a switching means (4) that is inserted between a power source and the workpiece to control the energy supplied from the power source, an interelectrode impedance detecting means (10) for detecting the interelectrode impedance accompanying the change in the electric discharge condition across the gap, a discharge detecting means (9) which detects the occurrence of electric discharge across the gap, and a control means (18) which calculates an internal impedance of the power source for obtaining a desired no-load voltage from the output of said interelectrode impedance detecting means and further calculates an internal impedance of the power source for obtaining a desired machining current when the electric discharge is detected, thereby controlling said switching means. The apparatus maintains stable discharge machining condition over the whole process, maintains a constant surface coarseness over the whole process, and realizes a maximum machining rate at all times for a desired surface coarseness.</p>
