PURPOSE:To check a jumping characteristic inherent in a spent wire as well as to make it densely accumulable in coil, by rotating and driving a wire recovery box, and making the spent wire delivered to the inside of this box so as to be drawn thereinto. CONSTITUTION:A wire electrode 24 going out of a machining area come to a spent wire 24a and, after passing through a lower guide 22, it receives a delivery action by a discharge mechanism 36 at the front stage of a recovery box 38 by way of a wire carry-out passage 34, and accumulated in this recovery box 38 for recovery. Here, the wire 24a run past the carry-out passage 34 is wetted at the machining area, therefore water is removed in a cover 34a of the carry-out passage 34, and this water flows on a lower surface, where the cover 34a is inclined, collected in a water receiver 35. And, the wire 24a is held between a driving roller 36a and a presser roller 36b and delivered to the recovery box 38. Next, when the recovery box 38 is rotated in a direction A by a motor 50, the wire 24b reached to the recovery box 38 is drawn in rotation of a bottom 38, whereby its jumping characteristic is checked, and it is wound an accumulated in the same direction as the direction A in close vicinity to the inside of a side wall of the recovery box 38.
