PURPOSE:To provide the titled member by sintering a mixture of a specific proportion consisting of a Co-base alloy powder and a ferrous alloy powder in which the proportion of fine grains and the contents of Ni, Co, and Mn are specified, respectively, so as to inhibit the diffusion of hard grain-forming components into a matrix structure. CONSTITUTION:This sintered member is obtained by sintering the alloy-powder mixture prepared by mixing the ferrous alloy powder with 5-40%, by weight, of the Co-base alloy powder. At this time, the ferrous alloy powder is regulated so that it contains 10-60% of at least one kind among Ni, Co, and Mn in which those having <=10mu grain size comprise 20-80% of the whole. In this ferrous alloy powder, sufficient austenitization of the matrix structure cannot be attained when the contents of Ni, etc., are below 10% and, when they exceed 60%, effects corresponding to costs cannot be produced. Further, when the proportion of the components having <=10mu grain size is beyond the above range, the making high-density of the sintered alloy cannot be accelerated. On the other hand, when the proportion of the Co-base alloy powder is less than 5%, the amount of hard grains formed at the time of sintering is insufficient, while, when it exceeds 40%, the proportion of the ferrous sintered alloy is reduced and toughness in the matrix structure is insufficient.
